Our Evaluation

Why We Chose PJ Kabos Olive Oil

PJ Kabos is the transparency pick. Almost no producer reports polyphenols by two methods, because it invites scrutiny — but PJ Kabos publishes both an HPLC and an NMR figure for its oils, which is the clearest possible way to prove a number is real rather than cherry-picked. Combined with USDA-organic certification and early-harvest sourcing, that honesty is what earns it a place.

The Family Reserve Organic Robust is pressed from early-harvest Koroneiki and Olympia olives grown near Ancient Olympia in the Western Peloponnese, where the family has farmed since the 1890s. It is high-phenolic — roughly 699 mg/kg — with ultra-low acidity under 0.3%, cold-extracted, USDA-organic, non-GMO, and Kosher-certified, in glass.

It is not the single highest-polyphenol oil in this collection, and like the others it publishes no independent heavy-metal panel. But on the specific virtue of proving its numbers — the thing most brands won't do — nothing here beats it.
