Why We Chose Love Grown

Love Grown earns the Bonham Gold Label for a distinction no other coffee brand in the world can claim: it is the only coffee certified by the Clean Label Project. That certification tests the finished product for heavy metals, pesticides, herbicide residues, phthalates, microplastics, and mycotoxins — benchmarked against California Prop 65 standards and EU safety limits. It passed every category.

What makes Love Grown's purity story particularly compelling is the combination of the CLP certification with the biology of the bean itself. Love Grown sources exclusively from a single family farm in Honduras growing the Parainema variety — a cultivar developed specifically for its natural resistance to coffee leaf rust, the most destructive fungal disease in coffee agriculture. Because the plant resists disease by design, pesticides are structurally unnecessary. The no-pesticide claim is biologically motivated, not just a brand pledge.

We are fully transparent about one gap: Love Grown does not hold USDA Organic certification. The brand declares organic growing practices and the CLP finished-product testing confirms the coffee is clean — but the supply chain has not been independently audited.
